Dr. Edward J. Kormylo has been serving Suffolk County in the practice of podiatric medicine and surgery since 1982.

Dr. Kormylo is the Co-Medical Director at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center for Wound Care and Hyberbaric Medicine. During his tenure, which began in 1996, the center has earned the Robert Warner, MD degree for three consecutive years with a 96% healing rate of lower extremity wounds. Dr. Kormylo has also given numerous lectures regarding diabetic limb salvage and the uses of advanced wound healing modalitites.

Dr. Kormylo is currently the Section Chief of the Department of Podiatry and a member of the Board of Trustees at Brookhaven Hospital. He has been a member of the Medical Board of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for twelve years, during which time he served as President of the Medical Board for four years.

Dr. Edward J. Kormylo received his Board Certification in Foot and Ankle surgery in 1980, after graduating from New York College of Podiatric Medicine with high honors. Dr. Kormylo stayed on to complete his surgical residency at the New York College. He received his undergraduate degree from Iona College where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. He is currently affliated with Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and St. Charles Hospital.

Dr. Edward C. Kormylo received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Stony Brook. He then went on to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in Manhattan, where he received his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine.

During his time there he was awarded the J. T. Tai scholarship and graduated with high honors. Afterwards, he went on to complete his three-year surgical training at the prestigious Northwell Health System (formerly North Shore-LIJ).

During his surgical training Dr. E.C. Kormylo was trained in all aspects of podiatry; including both non- operative and operative management of foot and ankle pathology. His focus, however, was centered on reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, including complex trauma of the foot and ankle, small joint arthroscopy, sports medicine of the lower extremity and surgical correction of lower extremity deformities.

Dr. E.C. Kormylo also trained at Cohen Children's Medical Center (formerly Schneider Children's Hospital) where he focused on both operative and non-operative management of the pediatric foot.

Dr. Kormylo also gained extensive expertise in sports medicine while working with the NCAA Division I athletic department at Fordham University.

Dr. Edward C. Kormylo was named chief resident in the final year of his training.

Dr. Edward C. Kormylo has given numerous lectures on reconstructive foot surgery and the management of foot and ankle trauma. He is board certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in forefoot, rearfoot and ankle surgery.

Dr. E.C. Kormylo has been awarded advanced ankle surgical licensure by the State of New York. This is a rarely attained privilege that is only bestowed upon an elite group of highly trained and thoroughly experienced foot and ankle surgeons.

Always ahead of the curve, Dr. E.C. Kormylo was the first to perform several reconstructive foot and ankle and procedures at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.

Dr. E.C. Kormylo offers comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence based treatment for his patients. Dr. E.C. Kormylo is happy to offer his services at all of Suffolk Foot and Ankle’s office locations and is on staff at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, Southampton Hospital and Peconic Hospital.

 

Kristina Karlic, DPM


Kristina Karlic, DPM

Dr. Kristina Karlic earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University in 2002. She then received her doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2007, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class. Afterwards, Dr. Karlic completed her three year surgical residency training at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital, where she was chief resident.

She has extensive training in both reconstructive forefoot and rearfoot surgery, and limb salvage in the diabetic foot. An avid sports enthusiast, Dr. Karlic is empathetic to the needs of the elite athlete and is exceedingly competent in sports medicine.

Dr. Karlic is a member of American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Podiatric education is very important to her and she lectures at a variety of conferences as well as to residency programs in the area on all aspects of foot surgery.

 

Sara El Bashir, DPM


Sara El Bashir, DPM

Dr. Sara El Bashir graduated Magna Cum laude in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University – New Brunswick. She then went on to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in Manhattan, where she received her doctorate in Podiatric medicine. During her time there, Sara was a scholarship recipient along with several awards and honors during her academic career.

After her doctorate, she completed a comprehensive three-year residency in foot and ankle surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. During her training, she completed the AAFAO Comprehensive Course of Internal Fixation for Reconstructive Surgery and Trauma of the Foot & Ankle, and Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy. She is well trained in all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery with interest in the treatment of foot and ankle trauma, elective reconstruction, wound care and preventative care for patients of all ages.
